I would like to draw the attention of your readers and the authorities concerned, in Pakistan to a very sorry state of affairs that has occurred with the cultural exchange students here in China. Passing through a tough and long selection process, students got a chance to carry on their higher studies in different universities in China, as well as in some other countries under the umbrella of the Ministry of Education.
Every year, the MOE selects a small number of students for Masters and PhD in different disciplines with a bond to provide a stipend, US $200 for the Master students and US $300 for the PhD scholars per month, but the MOE has not given the above-mentioned stipend to the students since the last nine months due to which they are in trouble and feel it difficult to stick to their educational activities. It is quite unjust to put the students through this anxiety abroad. They are giving lollypops to students when asked for money, since March last year.
They said, last September, that the fund had been released and would be sent to the students by the end of January, but again the same old thing. More than that, they also announced increasing the stipend from US $200 to US $300 for a Masters and from 300 to US $400 for PhD scholars. If they are not in a position to provide the old package, then why are they playing with us with such false promises. So, we request the concerned authorities to speed up the process, so that, the students concentrate on their studies with a peaceful mind. We request the concerned authorities of the Ministry of Education to bring out the students from this mental stress.
