The prevailing uncertain law and order situation has adversely affected businesses and industrial activities in the city on Wednesday. Incidents of target killing has worried the people, including traders, industrialists and the business community and made large number of them to stay home.
All the markets presented a deserted look as the citizens hardly did any shopping owing to fear of firing and preferred to remain away from shopping areas. Evenly, businessmen are hoping for an end to the political uncertainty that has plagued the city for a few weeks.
The expectation of the business community is that there should be peace. For the last few weeks, there have been so many disturbances like the agitation, bomb blasts, target killing and terrorist attacks. It has affected everyone badly. People are not stepping out of their homes. Chairman Federal B Area Association of Trade and Industry (FBAATI) Shahid Ismail said that when people prefer to stay at home, they don't spend, and when that happens, business activities decline.
He urged the Sindh government to take all possible measures to prevent any untoward incident in the future to assure industrial and trading activities flourishing. Industrial areas were operating although with less manpower in general particularly Federal B Area and Site industrial area as these areas remained in grip of target killing for the last few days. The business community is also hoping that differences between the two main political parties will be resolved soon so they concentrate on making efforts to improve law and order situation in the city.
