The traffic police on Sunday launched an awareness campaign advising the general public to slow down and keep headlights of their vehicles on during wet weather conditions to avert any accident. The traffic education officers informed the drivers that roads became muddy and slippery due to rain and applying of brakes at fast speed may result into accidents.
They were told that it became difficult for the drivers to see other vehicles in rainy and moist conditions. Headlights of vehicles might help other drivers to see them easily.
The drivers should bring their vehicles on the road only after ensuring that their brakes were properly working and electrical system and tyres were in proper condition. The motorists might be at risk if wipers and indicators of their vehicles failed to work during rain and the bald tyres may pose a danger in the wake of slippery roads.
During the awareness campaign launched on the directive of Chief Traffic Officer SSP Dr Akhtar Abbas, the pedestrians were given advices for roaming during the rainy conditions. The drive was participated by both male and female wardens.
