Tahr-eek-e-Istaqlal President, Rehmat Khan Wardag has urged PML-N Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif to play his democratic role in completion of the constitutional term of the government. Addressing a press conference here Sunday, he also asked Nawaz Sharif to avoid steps, which could harm democracy.
He said the constitution allowed President Asif Ali Zardari to complete his five-year tenure and Article 248 of the Constitution also granted immunity to President from criminal cases.
He said the attitude of politicians had harmed democracy in the past. He urged the provincial governments to hold local bodies' elections as early as possible to solve people problems at grassroots level.
He said the government should take measures on war footing to end loadshedding and start construction of water reservoirs. He said development of the agriculture sector was essential for national development.
