Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) President, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, has appealed to political parties including PML-N to withdraw their candidates in by-election of NA-55, Rawalpindi in favour of Sheikh Rashid Ahmed to put an end to new tradition of "politics of bullet" in the politics. Addressing a news conference here on Saturday, he said.
"If the PML-N did not withdraw its candidate, all other parties should unite in support of Sheikh Rashid for a one-on-one contest." He demanded judicial probe into the murderous attack on Sheikh Rashid through a judge of Supreme Court so that facts could be brought to the light. " Only, the PML-N could be beneficiary of the coward act as it don't want election," he said.
Accompanied by Chaudhry Zaheeruddin, Kamil Ali Agha, Mian Munir, Dr Khalid Ranjha and Mohammad Naseer Khan, the PML-Q President held N-League government responsible for the attack on Sheikh Rashid. He termed the incident as a deep-rooted conspiracy. Why the police remained silent spectator, he questioned? To a query about security in NA-123 Lahore, Shujaat said the attack on Sheikh Rashid in NA-55 might also have impact the elections in Lahore.
"After defeat in Mansehra and Swat, N-League is sensing defeat in NA-55 and NA-123. It appears that the PML-N intends to revert to previous stance that law & order situation in Punjab is not conducive for elections," he said. He further said that present government had no solution to public issues, such as load shedding, unemployment and price hike and it failed on all fronts.
