The Local Councils Association of Pakistan (LCAP) has on Wednesday announced to observe black day on February 19 to protest the Punjab government's move to wrap up the existing local government system. LCAP's President and Lodhran Nazim Syed Asghar Hussain Shah made this announcement while talking to media after the conclusion of nazims' consultative meeting.
Jamaat-i-Islami Naib Nazim Punjab Zafar Jamal Baloch, PPP President Lahore, Asghar Chaudhry, Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Lahore Mahmoodur Rashid, Hafiz Sulemen Butt and nazims from all over Punjab were also present on the occasion. Syed Asghar Hussain Shah said the meeting also announced to hold protest rally on February 20 from the Punjab Assembly to the Punjab Governor House, which would conclude with a sit-in outside the Punjab Governor House. The meeting also demanded that the government should announce the schedule of the new local government elections at the earliest.
