National Engineering Services Pakistan (Nespak) made outstanding progress during the last year ending December 2009 as its business grew to Rs 11 billion in ` 1 year. Highlighting the activities and achievements of the Nespak, Asad I. A. Khan, Managing Director Nespak said that during the year 2008, the organisation had procured business worth Rs 5.6 billion due to the continued hard work and dedicated efforts of its professionals.
Nespak business has now grown by almost 100 percent during the last one year, he added. The Managing Director said the Nespak last year secured 99 new Projects at home and abroad. Some of the new home projects include Earthquake Reconstruction Works (Erra Projects); 500 kV Transmission Line 3rd circle Jamshoro-Moro-Dadu-Rahim Yar Khan Project; Elevated Expressway from Mall Road to Faizabad Interchange, Rawalpindi; Sindh Water Sector Improvement Project Phase I, Improvement of Karakorum Highway from Raikot to Khunjrab (335 km); West Bank Bypass Project at Muzaffarabad (AJK); Transmission Line to import Power from Iran to Pakistan; Peshawar Northern Bypass; Hasanabdal-Havelian Expressway (40 km); Software Technology Park at Lahore; Sita Dam Project in Sindh and Bara Dam Multipurpose Project in Fata.
The 14 new foreign Projects acquired by Nespak in 2009 include Transmission of Water from Khulais and Rabigh Dams to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, Rabigh Power Plant Extension in Saudi Arabia; Road Rehabilitation Works in Oman; three sports complexes in Qatar; Ganges Barrage Project in Bangladesh and an Irrigation Project in Ethiopia. Efforts are also underway to secure work in Libya, he elaborated.
In Afghanistan, he maintained, work is in progress on the construction of Liaquat Ali Khan Faculty of Engineering in Mazar-e-Sharif, 200-bed Jinnah Hospital in Kabul, Nishtar Kidney Centre at Jalalabad, 1000-students Hostel for Rehman Baba School at Kabul and 200-bed Naeb Aminullah Khan Logari Hospital at Logar. The Allama Iqbal Faculty of Arts at Kabul University and Sir Syed Postgraduate Science Faculty at Jalalabad are nearing completion.
In Iran, Nespak is executing water projects including Ahwaz Water Supply Distribution and Albroz Integrated Water Schemes. Concluding, he said that Nespak continues to maintain its status as one of the largest organisations of consulting engineers in the developing world. He said that quality assurance has been a top priority for Nespak and its Quality Management System is being implemented and running smoothly.
