Karachi will have its first Convention Centre to be inaugurated on Sunday (today) at Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre. The project named as Najmuddin Auditorium Complex, has been undertaken by Neurology Research and Patient Welfare Fund (NRPWF) and completed against a cost of Rs 55 million.
Sources associated with NRPWF told APP on Saturday that the much-needed state of art convention center is a purpose built, ground plus one, complex comprising an auditorium, seminar halls and workshop rooms. "Inauguration of the convention center is to honour the donors for their major contribution in the academic field," they said.
The facility will be the venue for the 47th annual symposium of JPMC that begins on Monday. NRPWF Co-ordinator, Professor Hassan Aziz expressed his gratitude to the donors for their generous donations for the much needed facility in a health-care cum teaching institution.
Land for center has been provided by the federal health ministry and recurring expenses in terms of electricity and water will be borne under arrangements made for JPMC. Funds for upkeep and regular maintenance of the "complex" will be ensured through a committee comprising representatives of donors and notable citizens of Karachi.
