National Highway and Motorway Police (NH&MP) N-5 Central establishing a driver's training school of international standards in Multan, which would help the drivers of public sector as well as masses in learning adequate driving techniques and creating road safety in Pakistan, said by an Inspector General National Highways and Motorway Police Dr Wasim Kauser while inaugurating the school. The Acting DIG Muhammed Ali Nekokara, SSP Muhammed Inksar Ali Khan and SSP Ghullam Jaffer were also present on the occasion.
During the ceremony, the IG Dr Wasim Kauser said that road safety is a community issue. Its enormity necessitates acquaintance, enforcement of traffic rules and skills by public at large, thousands of people lose their lives every year in road mishaps. Millions are injured and financial loses come to billions of rupees. In addition to visible losses, even more painful are the emotional injuries that cannot be accounted for in monetary forms.
The Inspector General said that National Highways and Motorway Police have been devoting its energies and efforts towards safety of road users. For this purpose, it has adopted different approaches for briefing, educating and creating road safety awareness among the masses. To achieve the goal of safe driving, and by keeping up with its own traditions, NH&MP is establishing driving training track at Multan.
He further explained about the need of driving school in Multan because we does not have proper school in south Punjab for training purpose although we have enough driving training skills. Driving training is imparted in the open area without different road conditions such as speed breakers, ramps, and oily and muddy surfaces. He said that driving school will be used for driving training of all the three promotional courses and weak drivers of NH&MP. He further said drivers training courses for different police department, multinational and national organisations also initiated on this track.
Dr Wasim Kauser said, "NH&MP is seeking co-operation from the public sector organisations by sending their drivers to learn driving techniques as well as to learn emergency life support training programme". Commandant Training institute briefed the IG about the driving syllabus of driving training centre that would be based on modern lines.
