Veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has expressed serious concern over the killing of innocent civilians and arrest of youth by Indian police and troops in occupied Kashmir. Syed Ali addressing on telephone from New Delhi a meeting of Tehreek-e-Hurriyet held in occupied Srinagar said that the innocent civilians were facing worst kind of state terrorism in the occupied territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, he urged the people to be ready for a mass agitation against the killings and arrests. "We can't remain mute spectators to such a situation and people should be ready for mass agitation against it," he said. The veteran Hurriyet leader pointed out that National Conference-led puppet administration was proving ominous for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that the party had been from the very beginning working against the interests of Kashmiris, adding, "Even now this party is linking Kashmiris' struggle and atrocities on them with the law and order problem to hoodwink the world community."
Syed Gilani maintained that the international human rights organisations were observing silence for a long time now over what was happening in Kashmir. "Although there is, in the sight of world, a civil government in Jammu and Kashmir but practically there is a martial law enforced where there is no security to life, honour and property of people," he added. The veteran Kashmiri leader appealed to the Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch to send their teams to the occupied territory to take stock of the ground situation.
