Career choice is a personal, yet a lifelong decision. For a few, decision-making to embark upon the field of their interest, is an easy task; but for many, it's daunting to decide. In this regard, students find the best solution to contact education consultants/ counsellors to seek guidance.
The problem only arises, when consultants offer admission abroad at cheaper rates. This eventually traps students to loose thousands and millions of rupees, which results in wastage of time, at the same time, create a distressful situation for family members.
Nowadays, you may find a mushrooming growth of career counselling and consultancy offices, all over Pakistan. It has become very profitable business. This growing trend has prevented students from realising their own potential in getting the right guidance. They only follow the path provided to them by the consultants.
Educational consultants loot money and offer mesmerising offers to students to move abroad for better opportunities, in return for much money. They usually hire people with good communication skills, who can influence others to trust them. They help students to build castles in the air, creating problems for their families.
Some even send students abroad on a fake student visa, which was revealed by the CIA, but no action was taken against those who trap innocent dreamers, whose only wish is to get a better education. The growth of education consultants has ruined the future of many brilliant stars by improper guidance.
Students and parents willingly spend thousands of rupees as consultancy fees to secure their children's future. Unfortunately, there is no law to prosecute fake educational consultants. Recently UK and Canadian government issued a blacklist of fake immigration consultants in Pakistan. At the same time, many cases were brought to light by the American Embassy, where students were rejected on student visa for getting admission in fake colleges/ universities.
The best way to solve all these issues is to provide proper guidance to students at school/college level. Unfortunately, guidance and counselling is not provided to the students of most schools and colleges. It is the duty of every responsible teacher to guide students in making education and career decisions, rather than suggesting them to a consultant.
