Prices of ICE Futures US cotton and frozen concentrated orange juice futures early on Friday. March cotton up 0.87 cent at 77.84 cents per lb by 10:00 am EST (1500 GMT) despite a stronger dollar weighing on most commodities, including industrial raw materials such as crude oil and copper.
March moved from 76.31 to 78.41 cents, the highest price since September 2008. Contract volume light at 897 lots, or about half of the level seen around the same time Thursday. Funds extended buying in cotton after strong weekly exports and sales figures, and speculation that world consumption estimates will be higher in a May report due from the US Department of Agriculture, said trade. March FCOJ contract off 0.40 cent at $1.3790 per lb. Range from $1.3730 to $1.3850. Volume traded at 1,070 lots. Market activity centered on March/May rollover business, said traders.
