In pursuance of directions of Punjab Chief Minister, the provincial government is setting up Institute of Cardiology and Institute of Urology & Transplants in Rawalpindi at a total cost of Rs 5639.832 million. It was informed in a meeting chaired by the Secretary Health Punjab, Fawad Hassan Fawad, a spokesman of health department said.
According to him, the meeting was told that the project of Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology would cost Rs 2611.777 million. Technical and financial studies of this project have been completed and the proposals have also been received on 15th February 2010. This project has been included in the ADP of current fiscal year for which an amount of Rs 500 million has been allocated.
Further, Rawalpindi Institute of Urology and Transplants has also been included in the current ADP. It would cost Rs 3028.055 million and Rs 100 million have been allocated for the current fiscal year out of which Rs 10 million have been released whereas, Rs 90 million would be released by the Finance Department.
Fawad Hassan Fawad told the participants of the meeting that Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology and Institute of Urology would not only cater the needs of the people of northern and central Punjab but it would also provide health cover for the people of Azad Kashmir and adjoining areas of NWFP.
Moreover, Medical Superintendent Services Hospital, Dr Mohammad Javed, while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of tree plantation campaign on Wednesday said that 4000 saplings would be planted in the Services Hospital during ongoing spring tree plantation campaign. The main objective of this drive is to provide a pollution free and pleasant atmosphere to the patients as well as visitors.
