A large number of representatives from local textile industry thronged the 8th international Machinery Exhibition of Garment and Textile Technology, MEGATECH Pakistan 2010 on the last day at Karachi Expo Centre here on Saturday. We have sold at least 10,000 stitching machines in Pakistan, he added. Naeem, who is also the local agent for Sidi and JAM Automatic Machine of Italy, and NIPPY and Mitsubishi of Japan, said that he has received an overwhelming response in the last two days of the exhibition.
Paul Chang of leading manufacturer of delicate machinery, Kyang Yhe Trading Co Ltd, said that Pakistani textile sector is very strong and growing fast. "The demand for machinery has increased in Pakistan in recent months as the global recession is ending and demand for textile products is rising in the world, he noted. Chang said that his company is present in Pakistan for the last 20 years and we have received lot of inquiries and met lot of customers in the last two days. Last year was a bad year, he added. "We have so far sold over 7,000 machinery units in Pakistan and still getting new orders for supply of delicate machinery", he said.
Muhammad Iqbal, Partner of Intimex Corporation said he has received a large number of visitors from textile industry. We have spent two busy days at the show. My company deals in narrow-width needle looms for weaving laces for garments, he added.
Hans-Eckhard Meiler, general manager of one of the largest German textile machinery marker Goller Textilmaschinen GmbH said that this is a good year as machinery sale has started picking up in Pakistan for the last couple of months.
