Emergency declared as temperature rises in Karachi
Authorities declared emergency at all various hospitals in Karachi, after the mercury soared unexpectedly and temperature increased this week.
The emergency was imposed at many hospitals in the city and staff members were directed to cancel their holidays and report for duty. The measures were taken by authorities keeping in mind the possibility of a heat-wave about to hit the city, local media reported.
According to MET office, “Temperatures along Pakistan coastal areas including Karachi will gradually increase during the next 4-5 days resulting into moderate heat wave conditions. Daytime high temperatures in Karachi may cross 40°C on Tuesday and Wednesday”.
Mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most part of the country. The Met official said that the heat wave in the city is expected to persist till Thursday.
Citizens are advised to take precautionary measures and avoid direct contact with the sun as much as possible.
