Federal Minister of Commerce Amin Faheem has said that the government will accept the legitimate demands of the textile sector and the issues of the textile sector regarding quota of yarn exports will be solved with negotiations with the textile sector.
He was responding to the question of media about the threat of strike given by All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) at Expo Centre Johar Town on Saturday. He said that the first phase of Expo Centre Johar Town will be completed in three months with the cost of Rs 3.5 billion. He said that we have asked America for the direct access to its markets but they support their local industry first.
Similarly, he said that we have also asked the Europe to give Pakistan the incentives like Bangladesh in trade as Pakistan is playing a role of front line state in the war on terror. He said that Europe will take decision regarding the incentives given to Pakistan in trade on the platform of EU.
Faheem said that every country faces crisis and Pakistan is facing the crisis of terrorism and law and order situation. He said that incidents like terror attacks in Lahore affects the business activities and investors particularly the foreign investors because their countries issued travel advisory to their citizens as well as insurance rate is also increased.
While responding to the question about the Nawaz Sharif's recent statement that President Zardari will not address the parliament until 17th amendment of Musharraf era is not withdrawn, he said that President Zardari is the head of its party and he knows what is the right time to address. Faheem said that the slogan of his party "Roti, Kapra Aur Makan" is practical and we are facing difficulties in implementing this slogan because of the terrorism and economic crisis faced by the country.
