Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry of Lahore High Court (LHC) here on Friday issued notice to Inspector General of Punjab (IGP) Police, in petition of an arrested DSP Imran Babar Jamil challenging 'judicial inquiry' held by District & Sessions Judge (D&SJ) into his allegations against two SPs. Issuing notice to IGP for April 5, the court also directed him to proceed against the petitioner strictly in accordance with law.
The DSP through his counsel Barrister Farooq Hassan had submitted that the judicial inquiry was not done according to its legal requirements and appeared to be biased. Counsel pleaded that the sessions judge regretfully revealed his own bias against the petitioner by using various phrases in his inquiry report, which suggested that the report was neither neutral nor objective.
Counsel further said that the D&SJ did not allow cross-examination on statements of SPs who were accused of pressurising the petitioner for the release of alleged robbers. It has been prayed that the inquiry report of session judge be declared to be not having any evidentiary value.
