The Pakistan State Oil (PSO) will resume sale of E-10 fuel, in major cities in Sindh, from April 4, 2010. In the first phase, the sale of E-10 would be started at 38 outlets in major cities of Sindh in the next three days, the spokesperson of PSO told Business Recorder on Wednesday.
The cities where E-10 would be available from April 4, 2010 include Karachi, Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Larkana, Mirpur Khas, Sukkur, Sehwan, Jamshoro, and Tondo Adam. He said that in the second phase PSO would start supply of E-10 in various cities in Punjab, and then in other provinces.
About pricing, he said that E-10 fuel would be available at 2.5 rupee lower than petrol. The E-10 fuel was launched for the first time on January 3, 2010. However, the company had to stop its sales just after 15 days due to high pricing issue, despite very good response.
The E-10 gasoline is prepared by blending ten percent ethanol with petrol and it has been introduced as part of the government strategy to promote alternative energy resources. The E-10 fuel will help the country in reducing its import bill in coming years and on the other hand it will also economical for consumers.
