The 31st death anniversary of the founder of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and former Prime Minister Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto (ZAB) was observed in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Sunday with due solemnity and reverence. Special functions were arranged by the party workers across the state in which rich tributes were paid to ZAB and his daughter Shaheed Benazir.
A special ceremony was held here under the auspices of PPP Mirpur chapter. Peoples Youth Organisation (PYO) AJK chief Sahibzada Zulfiqar, AJK PPP city unit President Ghulam Rasool Awami, Farid Anwar Advocate, Co-ordinator Youth wing, Qazi Azher and many others addressed the ceremony.
The speakers, on the occasion, said that valiant ZA Bhutto preferred to go to the gallows by maintaining his honour and dignity instead of bowing before the dictatorship.
They said Shaheed ZAB and his martyred daughter were the staunch supporters of resolving the Kashmir issue according to the wills of Kashmiris.
The Speakers reiterated that the capital punishment by the dictatorial rule to Shaheed ZAB was in fact the assassination of democracy, constitution and judiciary. They reposed full confidence in the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari, Chairman of the Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani. The participants of the ceremony vowed to continue the mission of ZAB and Benazir Bhutto and offered fateha for their departed souls.
