Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that the PPP-led government came into power due to the remarkable victory of the PPP in the general elections and struggle of Benazir Bhutto. The Sindh CM expressed these views in his message on completion of two-years of the provincial government.
He said the government has launched many programmes to resolve problems of the people under the leadership of President Zardari and guidance of Prime Minister Gilani.
He said the government made all out efforts for development of education, health, communication and information technology and to create employment opportunities.
He recalled that the present Sindh Cabinet had taken the oath on April 11, 2008 and in addition to the projects of the previous government, number of new projects were also launched. Shah said opening of new medical colleges and universities and better health facilities at hospitals, hepatitis control programme, re-opening of basic health units at interior Sindh are among the measures taken by the government.
Speaking about education sector, he said establishment of new institutions, construction of schools, colleges, universities and restoration of educational activities at many institutes and other such steps were also taken by the government.
He said recruitment of new teachers have also been made while more vacant posts will also be filled through a programme with the assistance of the World Bank.
He noted that some 50,000 youths are given government jobs in order to eliminate unemployment and jobs will also be given against the vacant posts.
He said thousands of youths are imparted technical training under various trades and as many as 80,000 more will be given training in the second phase.
Shah said besides providing jobs to female doctors the 43,000 acres land are distributed among the poor women farmers and more 50,000 acres of land will also be distributed in the second phase.
He said total five million poor needy women in the Sindh province are being provide Rs 1000, each, monthly financial assistance under Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Support Programme.
He said the provincial government also has the credit of getting success on the National Finance Commission Award. Keeping problems of all the provinces in view President Zardari signed an important NFC Award at Gwadar, he added.
He said various programs are implemented in the province to eliminate unemployment and resolve the electricity crisis.
He said around 1,00,000 jobs will be created through development of agriculture sector, electricity generation from Thar coal and other projects.
He said massive reserves of coal have been discovered at Sondha, District Thatta and District Badin and utilisation of same will result in resolution of many problems of the Sindh province. He said the roads are also being constructed to develop communication network. He said amusement facilities are being developed for tourists at Kenjhar lake while work is underway at Bhitt Shah and Sehwan Sharif under a special development package. Shah said the government is striving to provide relief to the people and resolve their problems to bring prosperity.
