The recommendations put forward by Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance (PICG) for amendments to the Code of Corporate Governance, 2002 are now placed on PICG's website for public comment. According to a press release issued here on Thursday the deadline for public comment is April 30, 2010, following which these recommendations shall be finalised and sent to the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).
PICG's Taskforce, which was set up in 2007, is a blend of professionals from various fields of the corporate world each possessing the requisite experience in the realm of corporate governance.
After numerous meetings, the recommendations for amendments to the Code were put forward to a focus groups of all three stock exchanges of the country for their valued input. After incorporating some changes arising out of the focus group meeting, all the listed companies across the country were engaged by means of three roundtable conferences in Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore in the months of January and February 2010.-PR
