A full bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday adjourned hearing to May 10 in a petition seeking return of foreign assets owned by Pakistani politicians including PML-N Chief Mian Nawaz Sharif, its MNA Ahsan Iqbal, former chief minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and his son Chaudhry Moonis Elahi as petitioner Barrister Javed Iqbal Jeffery sought time to prepare his arguments.
The petitioner had demanded registration of FIRs against former president General Pervez Musharraf (Retd) and former Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz for looting national wealth. Making party to various famous lawyers and jurists including Dr Babar Awan, Malik Muhammad Qayum, Abdul Hameed Dogar, Sardar Latif Khan Khosa, Wasim Sajjad and Sharif-ud-Din Pirzada, it accused them of obtaining huge fees on the pretext of influencing judges.
Petitioner said they all should be fully taxed and penalties be imposed for tax evasions. Former president Farooq Ahmad Khan Leghari and Fauzia Gilani, wife of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, were also made party in the petition. Petitioner also sought court directions to utilise the building of Punjab Governor house for establishment of a non-profit international university.
