In a major reshuffle in the Pakistan Army on Saturday Lieutenant General Khalid Shams has been appointed as Chief of General Staff, whereas the corps commanders of Lahore, Quetta and Mangla were replaced. The former Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Mustafa has been appointed as corps commander Mangla.
Lieutenant General Rashid Mahmood has been appointed corps commander Lahore while Lieutenant General Javed Zia has been appointed as corps commander Quetta. The serving Lieutenant General Ijaz Ahmad Bakshi and Lieutenant General Nadeem Ahmad would retire by the end of April.
