Inspector General Police Punjab Tariq Saleem Dogar Saturday enhanced security arrangements at sensitive installations and important locations in the province in the wake of suicide blasts in Quetta and Kohat. Talking to APP by telephone from Multan, he said that he has directed the regional, city and district police officers across the province to remain highly alert, ensure foolproof security and maintain law and order in their respective areas.
The IGP directed police officers to take effective precautionary measures, especially in public places, to prevent incidents of terrorism and subversion and ordered deployment of plainclothes policemen where necessary. He also ordered intensified patrolling around railway stations, bus terminals, bus stops, markets, cinema halls, hotels, mosques, imambargahs, churches and other important places of big cities. The IGP also urged people to co-operate with police in this regard, saying that in case they find any unclaimed object or any suspicious person, they must immediately inform police emergency and rescue 15 to prevent any untoward incident.
Meanwhile, Capital City Police Officer, Additional IG, Muhammad Pervaiz Rathore and Regional Police Officers, Sargodha DIG Javed Islam and Sahiwal DIG Amjad Javed Saleemi have directed the SSP (Operation), DPOs of Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Pakpattan, Sahiwal and Okara to further strengthen security to identify and remove unscrupulous elements from the society.
