The Secretary to Government of Sindh, Labour Department, while exercising powers conferred under section 7 of West Pakistan Shops & Establishments Ordinance 1969, has announced 08.00pm as closing hour for shops and establishments covered under the said ordinance in the province of Sindh. However, marriage halls would be allowed to remain open from 09.00pm to 12.00pm with immediate effect.
According to the notification, this ordinance shall not apply to the treatment or care of the sick, infirm, destitute or mentally unfit persons, stalls and refreshment rooms at railway stations, launch stations, docks, wharf and airports and on trains, so far as the sale of commodities is concerned, shops dealing mainly in bakeries, medicines, surgical appliances, bandages or other medical requisites.
So far as the sale of these articles is concerned, shops dealing in articles required for funerals, burials or cremations, so far as the sale of these articles is concerned, auto mobile service stations (not being repair shops) and petrol pumps for the retail sale of petrol. Any shop and establishment found contravening the notification would be dealt with strictly under the relevant provision of law.
