A sector-in-charge of Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P), Dr Naushad Aijaz, was shot dead on Wednesday morning in Hyderabad, by unidentified assailants.
Dr. Aijaz, who was a close aide of MQM-P leader Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, was shot down near his house in Hali Road when he was returning home after dropping his children to school.
Unidentified assailants on motorbikes opened fire on him before speeding away.
The veterinary doctor suffered three gunshot wounds in the chest and face. After being informed of the assassination, police reached the crime scene and shifted him to Liaquat University Hospital where the doctors proclaimed him dead, local media reported. As soon as the news about the murder reached, MQM leaders and activists as well as relatives of the deceased gathered at the hospital.
Dr. Aijaz was in-charge of a MQM sector in Hyderabad and remained associated with MQM’s Pakistan group.
Police officials have not yet determined the reason behind the killing and are investigating the murder.
