Premier League: Man United ready for Tottenham clash
Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United are all set to clash Tottenham Hotspurs at Old Trafford today (Saturday) in the crunch game of Premier League.
The home side have an edge over Spurs as their superstar striker Harry Kane will miss the match due to hamstring injury. Kane is the Premier League's top scorer with eight goals this season.
However, it's not all doom and gloom for Mauricio Pochettino's side. After all, Spurs failed to lose a single game last season when taking to the pitch without Kane.
During the 2016-17 campaign, Tottenham won five and drew three of their eight games whilst Kane was sidelined through injury.
Meanwhile, Manchester City are five points ahead of United and Spurs, second and third respectively.
Considering Mourinho’s use of cat-and-mouse tactics it remains to be seen if he will instruct his side to do so. Talking to media, United boss Mourinho said he is confident the poor attitude of his players that contributed to Manchester United's shock defeat to Huddersfield, has been stamped out.
He accused his squad of lacking 'aggression and motivation' after the 2-1 defeat at the John Smith's Stadium. But ahead of Tottenham's visit to Old Trafford on Saturday, the 54-year-old is adamant it was 'an isolated case'.
"To play badly and lose matches, I think that can happen again,” he said. "It happens during a season, you cannot play well all the time, you cannot win all the time. You cannot even be lucky all the time."
"So to lose again, I think it is going to happen, but in terms of the attitude that we didn't like and knowing the players and what good people they are, I believe it was an isolated case."
