Former Pakistan skipper Rashid Latif Qureshi has said that despite winning both the T20 Internationals against Australia, national team will be facing stern test in the Test series both against Australia and England. "Its is good and encouraging win but Pakistan's real test starts with the opening Test against Australia at Lords," he told APP in an interview on Friday.
"Our bowling looked adequate but we are lacking in the batting department. Absence of experienced Younus Khan and Muhammad Yousuf will be big factor," he said. "Victory in two T20 series was definitely a morale-boosting win after losing 13 matches at trot against Australia. But it will altogether different in Test matches," he remarked.
"Test series will be different ball game and it will be real test of our batsmen and bowlers. Pakistan is very good in shorter version of the game but it will be big challenge in the 5-day Test matches," he pointed. Rashid Latif said Ricky Pointing's Aussies side is not that strong which it was few years ago but they will still be coming hard on Pakistan. He said Pakistan got a number of talented players in their line-up and they must prove themselves in Test matches.
Commenting on Shahid Afridi captaincy, he said he has done well sofar but it would be tough for him in Test matches. "If Afridi come good in Test matches it will be a great sign for the team," he maintained. Responding to a question about Pakistan's middle order batting, he said that is gray area. "Without experienced Muhammad Yousuf and Younus Khan we have to wait for the result in the first Test. It will be great opportunity for youngsters to show their talent and fill the gap," he said.
