The rupee moved both ways against dollar on the local currency market on Tuesday, dealers said. On the interbank market the rupee inched up with a rise of one paisa in relation to dollar for buying and selling at 85.74 and 85.78, they said.
The dollar demand is up due to strong buying by different quarters, they said. In the second session of Asia euro consolidated well below two-month peaks against dollar as investors hesitated to go long on the single currency and risk large short dollar positions during the US earnings season.
The euro held steady at $1.2595, with resistance seen roughly around $1.2690, the trend-line from the December high. Near-term support is seen near $1.2550, the previous session's low. Indian rupee was available at Rs 46.76 versus dollar, Malaysian ringgit was trading at 3.2035 against the US currency and the Chinese yuan was trading at 6.775. Interbank buy/sell rates for taka against dollar on Tuesday. 69.45/69.4530 (previous 69.45/69.4525).
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee continued fall against dollar, losing 10 paisa for buying at 85.80 and shedding five paisa for selling at 85.95, dealers said. The rupee, however, managed to pick up 30 paisa versus euro for buying and selling at Rs 106.95 and Rs 107.45, they added.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged amid low trading activity in the local currency market on Tuesday.
According to the currency dealers, there was no change in the dollar's demand and supply situation that helped rupee stability in the open market. The dollar was traded at Monday closing of Rs 85.70 and Rs 85.90, as its buying and selling rates, respectively, the dealers said.
However, the rupee lost its value on buying side, while it stayed unchanged on selling side in relation to the pound sterling. The pound was purchased and sold at Rs 128.50 and Rs 129.00, as compared to overnight closing of Rs 128.00 and Rs 129.00, respectively, the dealers said.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Tuesday.
The dollar opened at Rs 85.40 (buying) and 85.90 (selling) against the last rate. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 85.40(buying) and Rs 85.90 (selling)
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 127.86(buying) and Rs 129.33 (selling) against the previous rate. It did not observe further change in the last trading hours and closed at Rs 127.86(buying) and Rs 129.33 (selling).
