Punjab government is spending an amount of Rs 4 billion for upgrading 800 different Primary Schools to Middle level during the current fiscal year in the province. The purpose is to improve public schools infrastructure. This was stated by Chairman Chief Minister's Taskforce on Elementary Education Raja Muhammad Anwar while addressing the high level meeting of 36 districts' EDOs (E) at the Directorate of Staff Development Auditorium here on Wednesday.
The meeting was also attended by Secretary Schools Muhammad Aslam Kamboh and other high ranking officers of the School Education Department. The meeting held detailed deliberations on the issue of close by schools merger with a view to rationalise the students-teachers ratio for saving vital resources.
Raja Anwar asked the EDOs (Education) to work hard and improve the standard of school education. Talking about the presence of three technical schools situated in Bahawalpur, Joharabad and Faisalabad, he said that every High School must have a science teacher so that students could learn science education without any difficulty.
Earlier, Secretary Schools told the meeting that every primary school should have at least six teachers and as many class rooms. He further asked the EDOs (E) to set up no less than one percent model schools in a district to augment the mission of quality education in public schools. The meeting was directed to merge the boys and girls primary schools situated side by side on priority. However, these primary schools will be girl schools after the merger and female staff would be deputed in them. Various EDOs (E) also spoke on the occasion and presented proposals about rationalisation.
