We are celebrating 19th July as Kashmir's Accession Day, a milestone of our national history, with great enthusiasm and fervour, when 63 years ago on the same day, the resolution of Kashmir's accession to Pakistan was unanimously passed. This day marks the reiteration of our historical position that Kashmiris will never remain under Indian occupation.
At the time of Independence of the Sub continent, the princely states were given the right to choose their own destiny and Muslims of the State of Jammu and Kashmir had ideologically decided to join Pakistan ahead of partition.
Pakistan came into being on 14th August, 1947 where as General Council of All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference had decided to accede to Pakistan on 19th July 1947 through a unanimous resolution. This Resolution equates the resolution of 1940 passed in Lahore in terms of historical significance.
UN has also granted the Kashmiris the right to decide their future through a plebiscite but Indians are vehemently depriving them of this right. As a result the struggle for freedom started that is still going on unabated. United Nations is urged to push this old problem still pending on its agenda and India be forced to stop violations of human rights in Kashmir.
Kashmir conflict has also become a flash point for the whole world. Resolution of Kashmir conflict is inevitable for sustainable peace in the region. Keeping in view the invaluable sacrifices of Kashmiris, we, the people and Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, should also pave the way for the resolution of Kashmir conflict by forging unity and solidarity. On this historic day we are also thankful to our Pakistani brethren who have been standing with Kashmiris in thick and thin and never hesitated in giving their blood and sweat for resolution of Kashmir dispute.
