After hectic measures taken by the Pakistan Army and the Balochistan government, a landmark agreement of controversial Kasa hill marble project was signed by the elders of Ali Zai tribe. Army officials, representatives of mines and minerals, elders of Ali Zai tribe including Noora Khan Ali Zai, Sadiq Khan Ali Zai, Nawab Ayaz Jogezai and Provincial Minister Sardar Masood Looni attended the agreement signing ceremony held at Quetta Cantt.
Addressing the ceremony, Commandant 41 Wing Major General Mohammad Saad Khatak said that excavation of Kasa hills marble reserves located in Theshil Bori of district Loralai could not commence earlier due to intra-tribe dispute which existed between the two clans of Ali Zai tribe. The successful conclusion of the agreement between the groups is attributable to the joint efforts of Government of Balochistan and Pak Army.
He added that a number of meetings on the issue held by the officials of Pakistan Army with the stakeholders after the requests in this regard were made to Commander Southern Command by the Chief Minister of Balochistan and the elders of Ali Zai tribe.
Kasa hill marble reserves have significant economical potential including huge employment possibilities and revenue generation, he maintained. Major General noted that the agreement would create conducive environment for marble excavation activities which will benefit the local population along with the stakeholders. Earlier, the notables of Loralai district and Alizai tribe lauded the endeavours made by the Pak Army and government and hoped that the project would usher a new era of development in the poverty-stricken areas of Loralai.
