Monsoon season: Health department asked to devise preventive steps against diseases
Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has directed the Health Department to make all out efforts for ensuring prevention from infectious and water born diseases in Monsoon season. The Secretary Health Fawad Hasan Fawad in compliance with the orders of Punjab Chief Minister, chaired a high-level meeting to review the arrangement at district level.
Secretary Health assigned duties to the senior officers of the department at divisional level to monitor all arrangements in this regard. Secretary Health directed that Director General Health Dr Mohammad Aslam Chaudhry would be responsible for looking after the arrangements regarding preventive measures in Lahore Division and supervise overall arrangements as well.
Whereas, Director Headquarter Dr Zulfiqar will look after the arrangements in Gujranwala Division. Similarly, responsibilities of monitoring of these arrangements in D G Khan Division has been assigned to Dr Arshad Iqbal, Dr Junaid Qureshi in Faisalabad Division, Dr Arshad Usmani in Sahiwal, Additional Director Dr Mubasher Malik in Rawalpindi, Dr Azhar Masood Bhatti Faisalabad, Additional Director Dr Mohammad Naeem in Sargodha and Dr Mehmood Ahmed will supervise the arrangements in Bhawalpur Division.
The officers have been directed to stay there at least for four days in a week and take meetings with EDOs Health and other officers for ensuring the availability of all necessary medicines. They have been further directed to send a report to the Secretary Health and D G Health after reviewing the arrangements taken for this purpose. Fawad Hasan Fawad also directed that ORS packets and chlorination tablets should be distributed door to door through Lady Health Workers in rural and low-lying areas to prevent the people specially children from diarrhoea and water born diseases. He directed that the availability of anti snake venom should also be ensured in such Districts and Tehsil Headquarter Hospitals where these incidents are reported.
The Secretary Health directed all the EDOs (Health) not to leave their district without prior permission and concentrate on the provision of Health Care facilities to the people and prevention of communicable and water born diseases during the Monsoon season. Special Secretary Health Development Waseem Mukhtar, Director General Health Punjab Dr Mohammad Aslam Chaudhry, Additional Secretary Health Dr Mushtaq Ahmed Sulehrya and officers concerned were present in the meeting.
