Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Owais Ahmad Ghani visited Mohmand Agency on Sunday and distributed compensation cheques among victims of deadly Yakagund blasts few weeks ago. The governor distributed Rs 34.8 million among the heirs of 84 martyrs and 96 injured of Yakagund blasts here at Mohmand Agency's headquarters Ghalani.
The Governor also announced employment for the heirs of martyrs in Khasadar and Lives Force besides announcing Rs 1.5 million donation for 'Employment Restoration Fund' of Yakagund bazaar for the socio-economic development of tribal people.
Speaking at tribal Jirga, the governor said that he came here to express sympathy with the victims' families. He said the affected people would not be left alone in this hour of need.
"Protection of life and property of the people is the prime duty of the state and the government is fully aware of this responsibility," the governor added. He said that the terrorists were not only damaging the image of the country but also defaming Islam. He said Pakistan was the only Islamic country, which was an atomic power. He said the designs of enemy would be frustrated with the power of people. He said the nation was united against terrorism and militancy and time was not far away when this cancer would be uprooted.
The governor called for inter-faith harmony. He said the nation and the army were capable to successfully thwart evil designs of the enemy with bravery and determination.
The nation, he said, had given unprecedented sacrifices in the war against terror and it was acknowledged by all and sundry. The governor said that Pakistan was a responsible state and knew how to solve the problems. He said," the world has now realised that force is no solution of tackling the menace of militancy and terrorism"
The government is committed to bring tribal area at par with the developed parts of the country and that is why scores of developmental projects have been initiated in tribal areas for the socio-economic emancipation of tribesmen, he added.
The governor said that for the last two to three years most of the resources had been spent on the war against terror but now the writ of the government had been restored in maximum areas of Mohmand Agency and normalcy was returning back owing to successful government's policies. He assured the tribal people that every possible measure would be taken for development of Fata which is imperative for the stronger Pakistan. Earlier, the tribal elders and political agent welcomed the governor. Foolproof security arrangements have been made on this occasion.
