Muttahida Qaumi Movement's (MQM) Co-ordination Committee member Wasey Jaleel lashed out at the law enforcement agencies for arresting and opening fire at its activists in various parts of the violence-hit city. Addressing a press briefing at party's headquarter - nine-zero on Wednesday.
He said Rangers and police have failed to pay heed to MQM's repeated calls to maintain peace in areas like the Qasba Colony, Banaras, Kati Pahari and Faqueer Colony where armed men were killing and plundering MQM's supporters. Furthermore he said the MQM activists had been confined to their homes in these areas.
Flanked by other committee members - Ishfaq Mangi, Shahid Latif and Shakir Ali, the former town nazim claimed that law enforcers have failed to protect MQM's sympathisers and 'Urdu-speaking' people after the martyrdom of Raza Haider and his gunman Khalid Khan.
The MQM leader said barracks had been established in Muslimabad and Peerabad areas from where the 'Urdu-speaking' people were continuously being fired at by the terrorists. Demanding of the government to take notice of the grim situation, the committee member said the terrorists had killed MQM's sympathisers, Mehmood, Fayaz, Muhammad Nadeem, Farhan and Syed Asad Hussain in various parts of the city. He also named a number of party activists who were targeted and injured by the armed men in various areas of the city. Wasey also said two of his party workers, Shehzad and Dr Abid, were missing after being arrested by Pakistan Rangers from Taiser Town.
