On the directives of Inspector General National Highways & Motorway Police N-5 Central Dr. Wasim Kausar, a weeklong celebrations - 'independence celebrations week' to mark the 63rd independence of the country started on Sunday in a simple manner throughout the zone on national highways.
Small packets of sweets and biscuits, imprinted with road safety slogans along with national anthem audio CDs, were distributed among the commuters on all toll points. Road safety stalls have also been established at prominent points on the highways. The authorities have kept the celebrations simple to mitigate the effects of natural disasters - flash floods and torrential rains, which have recently hit the country.
Besides, the concerned authorities have vowed to ensure smooth and free flow of traffic with their best efforts, creating national spirit and solidarity among the masses. On the inaugural day of the independence celebrations week, Dr. Kausar and DIG Syed Ibne Hussain visited the highways and inspected the stalls and independence week celebrations at the Guidance Centre Lahore.
