The information secretary of PPP Punjab, Dr Fakhar-u-Din, while addressing a press conference here on Sunday, denied any incident of shoe throwing on President Asif Ali Zardari in UK. He said that the president was in UK to fight out the case of the country and pointed out that he was constantly in touch with state of affairs here.
He said the opposition of president was involved in rumour mongering against him. He criticised the leadership of PML-N and said that they were involved in hatching conspiracies against PPP leadership.
He warned that such conspiracies would not be fruitful and the image of the PPP leadership would not be tarnished. He said that the party believes in freedom of media and had done much for it in the past and would not do anything contrary to suppress any news. The information secretary warned PML-N leadership of strong consequences, if they would not stop character assassination of the president. He said that CM Shahbaz Sharif, by closing Sasti Roti Scheme, had proved the doubts.
Secretary finance of PPP Aurangzeb Burki said that the president had already given Rs 330 million in flood relief funds and more finances would accrue from the tour of the president abroad.
Meanwhile, Senator Perevaiz Rasheed, leader of PML-N, in a rejoinder to PPP allegations stated that PML-N leaders were not afraid of any threats against them. He criticised PPP for levelling frivolous and untruthful allegations against them.
