The Irrigation and Power Department Sindh has given the following report regarding the flood situation in the province on August 9. The River Indus is in a 'Super Flood' situation at the Guddu Barrage, and would remain the same during the next 24 hours. The river is in a 'Super Flood' at the Sukkur Barrage as well, and would remain the same for another 24 hours.
The River Indus is 'Normal' at the Kotri Barrage, and would be at a 'Low Flood' during the next 24 hours. The river discharges at Guddu Sukkur and Kotri barrages, as recorded at 6 am on August 9, are as follows: At the Guddu Barrage, upstream discharge was recorded 11,48,738 cusecs, downstream discharge was 11,48,200 cusecs and the flood stage at upstream was Super Flood.
At the Sukkur Barrage, upstream discharge was recorded 11,30,220 cusecs, downstream discharge was 11,24,720 cusecs and flood stage at upstream was Super Flood. At the Kotri Barrage upstream discharge was recorded 1,88,613 cusecs, downstream was 1,82,853 and flood stage at upstream was Normal.
The positions at RIM stations were as follows: Indus River at Tarbela upstream inflow was 555,000 cusecs, downstream inflow 490,000 cusecs and flood stage was High. Kabul at Naushera: upstream inflow 231,600 cusecs, downstream inflow 231,600 cusecs and flood stage was Very High.
The Super Flood is passing through the Guddu Barrage with a discharge of 11,48,738 cusecs and the situation would remain the same at this station during the next 24 hours. It is expected that discharge at the Sukkur Barrage might pass in the range of 11,00,000 cusecs to 11,50,000 cusecs within the next 24 hours.
