Minister of Religious Affairs-Penang Malaysia YB Haji Abdul Malik Kassim has said Pakistan can generate revenue through Halal industry, which will significantly contribute towards the country's economic development. Minister of Religious Affairs Malaysia said this while talking to university of Veterinary Animal Sciences (UVAS) vice chancellor Professor Dr Nawaz and faculty members of the varsity the other day during a short official visit to UVAS.
During a meeting, YB Haji Abdul Malik Kassim explained that Pakistan is big brother of Muslim World and it should come up Halal products to enhance economy in this regard. Commenting on the quality of Halal he maintained Halal products are the best in the world and even the non-Muslims consumers prefer to buy Halal and Pakistan should come up Halal products.
He informed about great scope of Halal meat and food processing sector. "Malaysia has been in the forefront of developing standards for the Halal industry that meets international best practices" YB Haji Abdul Malik Kassim said that Halal food market is very rapidly increasing and Malaysia is playing a momentous role in this regard.
Earlier, UVAS-VC Professor Dr Muhammad Nawaz briefed about the university and introduced the 5 faculties, 22 departments and 2 institutions. He explained that this infant university in the last three year had developed logarithmically. In an international research rating published by Higher education Commission ranked 12 out of 82 public and private sector universities and after Government College University and Punjab University UVAS was in third position in Lahore.
He revealed in 2006 only one publication was published. Dr Nawaz stated UVAS contribution to celebrate World Veterinary Day recognised by World Veterinary Association and office of International Epizooticus in Paris and Pakistan won first prize out of 142 countries of the world. Dr Nawaz said it was remarkable achievement on behalf of university to establish international standard training and research centre for Livestock marketing with digital data recording. "We are also working on development of bio-technology Park" VC said. Later, VC presented a university souvenir to YB Haji Abdul Malik Kassim.
