Traders from Akbari Mandi have said that supply of pulses has come down drastically due to the ongoing heavy rains. The prices of these commodities have also registered a hike. They also feared that the masses could face shortage of pulses like Channa, Mong and Mash, especially washed categories of the pulses due to stoppage of working of factories that produce these pulses.
Asghar Butt, a trader of Akbari Mandi said that these pulses come from Sargodha and Faisalabad and because of rains, these factories were not working so the supply of these products had come down drastically.
Usman Butt, another trader from Akbari Mandi said that due to rain, supply of pulses of Channa, Mong and Mash had decreased. He further said that situation about the damage to these crops due to flood was also not clear, due to which prices of these commodities had also gone up.
Usman said that 'Daal Chana' which was available at around Rs 52-53 per kg some eight days back, now it has reached Rs 62-63 per kg. While Mong (Washed) was around Rs 75-76 per kg had now reached Rs 110 per kg. When asked, Usman said they used to receive 100 bags from Faisalabad and Sargodha eight days ago, now they were receiving only 20 bags.
