The Director General, Livestock Sindh Hyderabad Dr Ghulam Sarwar Shaikh visited Veterinary Relief Camps established in Districts Jamshoro and Dadu to provide veterinary coverage to the livestock of the katcha areas. The press release issued here on Wednesday revealed that the In charges of the camps were directed to provide veterinary services to the farmers round the clock. All necessary vaccines and medicines have been provided at the camps.
Speaking to the media, Dr Shaikh said that on the instructions of Minister Livestock, Sardar Mir Abid Hussain Khan Jatoi and Secretary Livestock and Fisheries Sindh Dr Laiq Ahmed Memon, 114 Veterinary Relief Camps have been established in the area of 15 districts, situated on both sides of River Indus. 92 veterinarians and 268 para-veterinarians have been deployed.
Giving details of Relief Camps, he informed that in Shikarpur 14 Emergency Camps, Hyderabad 3, Kambar Shahdadkot 7, Matiari 7, Jamshoro 7, Dadu 13, Thatta 5, Sukkur 6, Ghotki 4, Larkana 11, Kashmore 8, Khairpur 15, N.S. Feroze 7, Shaheed Benazirabad 6 and in Tando Muhammad Khan one Relief Camp have been established.
Further a Central Emergency Cell has also been established at the Directorate of Animal Husbandry Sindh Hyderabad with Telephone No 022-9200990 for resource mobilisation, co-ordination, data collection and reporting. He said that implementation and monitoring of the whole network has been assigned to the senior officers of the department to ensure that flood affected farmers are being facilitated.
