US provides additional $3 million assistance

The United States has provided 3 million dollars through Pakistan Red Crescent Society to provide emergency shelter, immediate health care and access to clean water and sanitation for an estimated 25,000 families in flood-affected areas.
The Red Crescent Society has 150 trained disaster response team members, 35 disaster management cells and 20 mobile health units that can be mobilised to assist in the flood relief effort. If needed, additional staff and volunteers can be deployed to further boost its capacity. The United States is working in support of the Government of Pakistan - led by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) - to provide assistance to local humanitarian aid agencies, as well as through international non-governmental organisations and UN agencies operating in Pakistan, said a US Embassy official.
