The Pakistan Meteorological Department has on Saturday forecast more scattered thunderstorm over north Punjab and Kashmir. However, isolated thunderstorm/rain is also expected over Khyber Pakhtunkwa and Gilgit and Baltistan. This is due to seasonal low that lies over north Balochistan and adjoining areas and its trough extends up to upper parts of the country.
Also, south-west monsoon current from Arabian Sea is penetrating into sub-mountain areas of Punjab and Kashmir up to 3000 feet while Friday's shallow trough of westerly wave over Kashmir and adjoining areas has moved away eastward. Meanwhile, various parts of the country received rain, including Okara 34mm, Syphan 20mm, G. Dupatta 8mm, Lahore city and Shiwal 7mm (each), Muree 5mm, Kot and Risalpur 2mm, Islamabad zero point and Balakot 1mm (each), Karachi (Faisal), Jhelum, Muzaffarabad and Skardu trace (each). According to prevailing hydrological conditions, River Indus at Sukkur is in exceptionally high flood and falling. River Indus at Guddu and Kotri is in very high flood. River Indus at Kalabagh, Chashma, Taunsa, and River Kabul at Nowshera are in medium flood. River Indus at Tarbela, River Jhelum at Rasul, River Chenab at Marala and Punjnad are in low flood.
