All Pakistan Train Drivers Association's negotiations with the railway authorities on the second day ended inconclusive, here on Monday. Association's President Nazir Ahmad Awan and other officials' meeting with Railway Board Secretary, Malik Hayat and Syed Bazad at railways headquarters failed to deliver any favourable results.
The association is of the stance that they should be provided 'mechanically fit' locomotives because it is not possible for them to keep the present fleet of locomotives running. "We are not going on any strike. We have conveyed our genuine grievance to the railways' administration," said Nazir Awan.
He said that majority of our countrymen are facing floods' devastation. We intend to help these affected people by transportation of relief goods to them. It is pertinent to mention here that the locomotives attached to Jaffar Express at Lahore station had stopped running near the Cantt station last day. Pakistan Railways administration assured the drivers' association that their grievances would be soon resolved.
