Samsung mocks Apple in ad asking users to ‘Grow up’
Samsung just released its new advertisement for its Galaxy Note 8 flagship in which it openly mocked Apple as it says ‘Grow up with an upgrade to Galaxy’.
The one-minute ad by Samsung titled ‘Samsung Galaxy: Growing Up’ ridiculed iPhone X’s design, no headphone jack and previous old features of the former iPhones. Starting from iPhone 3GS to iPhone 7, Samsung mocked them all showing various times and various features.
Starting from the year 2007 when the first iPhone was launched, and progressing to 2010 where the iPhone 3GS is mocked for its deficient storage. It progresses to iPhone 5s in 2013 where it is made fun of for not having a stylus as compared to Samsung. Moving on to 2015, where people are standing in rain most likely to get the iPhone 6s.
Samsung Galaxy X to beat iPhone X
The ad steps forward an year to 2016, Samsung sneers at iPhone for not being water-resistant as it shows that Samsung works fine even after thrown in water whereas, Apple does not. Lastly, iPhone 7 is made fun of for not having headphone jack and its inability to support wireless charging in comparison to Samsung. Later, the person finally switches to Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and the walks past a line of people waiting for iPhone X. A random guy with a notch-shaped haircut similar to the iPhone X looks up scornfully from his phone to the person. The ad ends with a tagline: ‘Upgrade to Galaxy’.
According to The Verge, the Samsung vs. Apple war has been going on for years. Though the direct attack on Apple wasn’t seen from Samsung’s side for some time, Samsung is back again with its ad dubbed ‘Growing up’ with a general theme that Samsung is always a step ahead of Apple.
Even Microsoft back in 2013 mocked Apple and Samsung in its advertisement. However, Apple has never referenced any of its rival companies in its advertisements, wrote Mirror.co.
