The Punjab government has taken notice of sale of life saving drugs in black market by some unscrupulous elements and asked the authorities concerned to take stringent measures to check this activity. Chairman Chief Minister's Taskforce on Spurious Drugs Dr Saeed Elahi said here on Monday that some elements were taking extra benefit of the flood situation in the province and selling life saving drugs in black market.
He said that such elements would not be allowed to exploit the situation and strict action would be taken against profiteers. Dr Saeed Elahi said that necessary instructions have been passed to the drug inspectors to keep an eye on the market situation. As the demand of medicines have been increased due to the bulk consumption in the flood-hit areas, some elements involved in drug business have increased the prices of medicines specially used in gastroenteritis, skin and eye diseases, he said. He warned these elements not to exploit the needs of people; otherwise, strict action would be taken against those involved in profit hunting.
