The Monsanto Fund has donated an additional amount of Rs 4.3 million to the World Food Programme (WFP) to support relief work for the flood victims in Pakistan. According to a press release issued here on Monday, the World Food Programme (WFP) is actively leading the efforts in this regard.
Monsanto's total donation for the flood victims in Pakistan now stands at Rs 8.6 million. This is in addition to the local employees' contributions made by Monsanto Pakistan, the release added. The company hopes the funds will contribute to alleviate the difficulties faced by the people in Pakistan's flood affected areas.
The Monsanto Fund had earlier donated Rs 4.3 million immediately after the floods ravaged different parts of the country and has now enhanced the donation to further aid the agencies currently working to provide food and shelter to the people in the affected areas.
"Our prayers are with the people still reeling from effects of the natural calamity and we hope things will improve soon and the people are able to go back to their homes," said Aamir Mehmood Mirza, Country Lead, Monsanto Pakistan. Monsanto Company is a leading global provider of technology-based solutions and agricultural products that improve farm productivity and food quality. Monsanto remains focused on enabling both small-holder and large-scale farmers to produce more from their land while conserving more of our world's natural resources such as water and energy.-PR
