Low cost housing scheme's progress reviewed

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif presided over a meeting on Wednesday organised to review progress of low cost housing schemes. Chairman Punjab Land Development Company, Sheikh Allaudin gave a detailed briefing. The chief minister said that the Punjab government has decided to start low housing schemes for low income groups and three, four and five-marla houses would be built under the Aashiana Housing Project.
Those who have monthly income less than Rs 20,000 would be eligible to own a house, he said and added that Aashiana Housing Project would initially be started in Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha and Jhelum districts and later, it will be extended to other districts. He directed that 10 percent quota be reserved for widows, orphans and martyred personnel of police and army in low cost housing schemes.
Earlier, Allaudin informed the meeting about the progress on the project and said that application forms have been prepared for homes while five information desks will be established in the company's office to facilitate the people. A website would also be launched with regards to Aashiana Housing Project, which would have all details of the project, he said.
