The Devolution Trust for Community Empowerment (DTCE) under the umbrella of Jeevay Pakistan Jeevay Maqami Hakoomat on Thursday started first phase of its flood relief activity from Prang Union Council, Charsadda and distributed food items among the most deserving people affected by recent floods.
DTCE Chairman Daniyal Aziz on behalf of the Trust led the campaign. President of Local Council Association (LCA), Khyber Paktunkhwa, Yousaf Ayub accompanied with former UC, Tehsil and district Nazims took part in the food distribution activity. Local press and bar leaders were also present on the occasion.
The DTCE, in its first phase, will distribute food and items of daily use worth $400,000 among the flood victims and devised a foolproof mechanism for this purpose to ensure transparency. The trust has formed committees in the most affected districts comprising Local Council Associations (LCAs) a body comprising former local government representatives at union, town, Tehsil and district council level, Civil Society Organisations, Citizen Community Boards and district press and bar associations under the umbrella of Jeevay Pakistan Jeevay Maqami Hakoomat for the monitoring of funds' utilisation and food distribution. These committees have prepared a unanimous list of most deserving people in the Ucs.
Aziz said local government representatives would not leave their calamity-hit brethren alone in these testing time. "We have evolved a comprehensive strategy for food distribution and funds utilisation and no one can point finger on it," he said. He invited media to monitor the DTCE's mechanism and give suggestions as how to improve it if there is any flaw in it.-PR
