Pakistan's Pharmaceutical Industry has fulfilled its commitment to donate medicines worth Rs 100 million for the treatment of flood victims, said Chairman Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA) Mian Asad Shuja-ur-Rehman and Co-Chairman Pricing Committee Khawaja Shahzeb Akram.
The medicines were given to Provincial Minister for Education Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman in a ceremony held at Schazoo Laboratory on Friday. Special Secretary Health, Abdullah Sumbal, Additional Secretary Health, Muhammad Mushtaq, Director Health, Dr Attiq-ur-Rehman and executive member of PPMA Riasat Ali Bhatti were also present.
The representatives of PPMA said that the pharmaceutical industry would collaborate with the government at all level for the availability of medicines across the country. "We would continue this mission for the rehabilitation of flood-hit people," they said.
Giving details of donations of medicines by pharmaceutical industry, Mian Asad Shuja-ur-Rehman said that PPMA had already donated medicines worth Rs 30 million to Punjab government for flood affected people. With these two trucks, the value of medicines donated to Punjab would reach to Rs 50 million.
Furthermore, PPMA had also donated medicines worth Rs 50 million to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Sindh, Federal Government, Pakistan Army and different NGOs, he added. Provincial Minister for Education, Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman appreciated the contribution of PPMA and also thanked association on behalf of Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif.
